Past Layouts

Welcome, one and all, to the page that houses past layouts. ^^
Due to the fact that, right after I got my hot little hands on Photoshop and started make good images for the site, and due to the fact that I've deleted the old ones, the layouts will start from Verison 3 - "Go With Enthusiasm!".

Version 9: Tribute To The Seniors, The Senpais
Tables, regular HTML. Images made in Photoshop 7, with brushes coming from The Magic Box. Lasting from May 21st to September 3rd, 2006, I made sure my senior tribute lasted all summer. X)
This was a nice and simple layout that I really enjoyed having up. Chiyo in her pretty graduation kimono was always the main focal point, but for a while, there was also a picture of the gang bowing in respect to Yukari. But it didn't look right, so it got tossed out.
Green and pink were used to symbolize a flower of sorts, and used as fresh colors to brighten up the layout but give it a more dreamy and pastel look. When my senior friends graduated, I was a wreck, crying and sobbing the enitre time. It...wasn't pretty. ^^;;
The font used is once again "Angry Blue Controlled", which can be downloaded here.

Version 8: Yearbook
Divided layers, tables, regular HTML. Images made in Photoshop 7 with the brushes once again coming from The Magic Box. This layout lasted from March 5th to May 21st, 2006 - almost three months. XD My OCLCD is getting better.
I never quite liked this layout as much as I thought I should. At one point, I was just about ready to scrap it because the top image snapshots weren't working out that well, but I managed to pull thorugh. I dunno why I didn't create a new layout faster...it's most likely due to a one-month period of no Photoshop and no inspiration. ^^;;
This is the first time orange was a main focal point of a layout, and I'm quite pleased with how certain elments worked out. In essence, blue and orange are opposites and white is a netural, so the color balance was great.
The top images came from some ad for a weird Azumanga GameBoy Advance game. Shocking, I know. But they were so neat, I couldn't leave them to rot. Add a smart blur filter and I managed to slavage some workable pics.
And for your pleasure, the font used is called "Rough Linen", which can be downloaded here.

Version 7 - [Let's Start The New Year Right]
Divided layers, some tables, regular HTML. Images made in Phtoshop 7. Brushes used came from The Magic Box, my absolute favorite graphic site. The layout lasted from December 30th, 2005 to March 5th, 2006 (oooh!) - a fairly long time. I think I've gotten better about spasmodically changing layouts, but I still have OCLCD (Obsessive Compulsive Layout Changing Disorder).
This was my holiday/New Years/winter layout, featuring Osaka and Sakaki looking very pretty in their kimonos. The background of the top image is four manga strips from the winter time, like Sakaki's (second) new years dream, the first snow fall, and a snowball fight - all in original Japanese! I was quite pleased with how it turned out.
And the green just sorta came at the last minute. At first, the layout was another light blue, but I randomly decided to do green right before I went off updating all the pages. ^^;; It was a nice change from what I've been doing.
Once again, the font used is called "Angry Blue Controlled". It and it's more, uh, angrier, counterpart can be downloaded here.

Version 6 - [Go With The Beat!]
Divided layers, HTML. Images made in Photoshop 7 while the single brushed used came from Hybrid-Genesis. The layout lasted from October 7th to December 30th, 2005, about a month and a half short of the third layout (^^;; ) but still quite a long time.
I'm not sure why, but I absolutely loved this layout. It was so simple and yet stylish, with things not before seen on Azumanga sites. It took its cue from the many anime music rotation sites, which have a blank sorta sidebar on the right side. But what really made it come together was the image, which was found after many-a-month internet scouring. It's now apart of the Numbnuts Gallery, under the random section. The Azu girls as an Azu band? That's so freakin' cool. Whoever made this image has my eternal awe, since it's just so freakin' awesome.
Oh, and the font is called "123 and...", which can be downloaded here.

Version 5: Tribute to Rie Tanaka (aka Sorezone no One Way)
The Magic Box. This one lasted from August 31st until October 7th, 2005. I told myself to let it be on the net for at least a month, though it seems longer. ^^;;
This layout took a totally different look at the series. Instead of the bright colors I had been using since the dawn of NU, I went with the blue-greys instead. It just seemed to fit. So to brighten it up a little bit, I put on some brushes with light blue and orange. What makes this layout special is that it features Rie Tanaka, Yomi's seiyuu. Tanaka-san is actually a singer, and Yomi's not, so the karaoke sprtiz in episode 17 is hilarious in sub mode. XD I also figured I should give something to Yomi, since I hadn't really featured her before (nor Sakaki or Chiyo-chan, but, you know - one at a time).
This was also the time I was experimenting with the Audio Project, so I figured some sort of musical-like theme was in order.

Version 4 - Lazy Dazy Bonkura Summer
Divided layers, some tables, CSS, HTML. Images made in PaintShop Pro 9. This one lasted from May 30th 'til August 31st, 2005 - the course of my summer break and about a week before and after.
I really liked making this layout. It was fun to think of what colors I should use - the theme ended up being somewhat close to the third layout because of the yellows, but this one was definetly more bright and vibrant.
My favorite part? I liked how the top image intergrated into the entire layout, particuarlly how the cutting point between image and paint-fun was at Tomo's side. I'm glad she fit to the top of the page. XD
Tomo: You calling me SHORT, you midget?!
Katana: You've got two inches and three years on me! Shut up baka!
*Ahem!* This was possibly my laziest stint too, since I updated about five times during the summer. 'course, that's better than a lot of other fansites. ^^;; I think after this, I got really involved in the site. ^_^

Version 3 - [Go With Enthusiasm!]
Tables, CSS, regular HTML. Images made in Photoshop 7. This one lasted from Janurary 23rd 'til May 30th, 2005. A long long time, and currently holding the record for longest layout. (Little over four months.) XD
This one was at both the free-webspace.biz address and the GS: Adepts Refuge one. Actually, Kemosabi from GSAR was quite impressed with the layout, so I have Osaka and her determination to thank for helping me get here. ^^;;
Kemo was great after my site got accepted and I prepared and waited for the account to get set-up. Distinctly, I really remember him saying at then end of a random news post: "Await Katana's cute site about Azumanga Daioh". He had done that for nobody else. ^^ Speical moment! XD
Oh yeah, the links had a cool highlight effect that I'll probably bring back sometime...
